1. Information Collected
Depending on how you use Existence, we may collect the following categories of
personal information:
- Account and identity information, such as your name, email address, and sign-in details provided through Google Sign-In.
- Profile information, such as your display name, age-related eligibility data, interests, languages, hangout text, profile image, and profile video.
- Location information, including approximate or precise device location that you choose to provide so we can show nearby hangouts and profiles.
- Device and app information, such as device tokens used for notifications and basic technical information needed to operate the app.
- Support communications and information you send to us when you contact support@types.social.
We do not currently store chat message history on our servers. If you use messaging,
message content may be transmitted through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for delivery
and may be stored temporarily on your device for continuity.
2. Sources of Information
We collect personal information directly from you, from your device, and from the
service providers you use to access Existence, such as Google Sign-In. We also receive
technical and delivery-related information from our infrastructure and messaging
providers.
3. How We Use Information
- To create, authenticate, and maintain accounts.
- To build profiles, show nearby hangouts, and support discovery features.
- To upload and display photos and videos you choose to share.
- To deliver notifications and support ephemeral messaging.
- To provide customer support, troubleshoot issues, and keep the service secure.
- To detect fraud, spam, harassment, unsafe conduct, and other misuse.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, we process personal information on one or
more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract with you, our legitimate
interests in operating and securing Existence, your consent where required, and
compliance with legal obligations.
5. Sharing and Service Providers
We may disclose personal information to service providers that help us operate
Existence, including:
- Google, for sign-in and message delivery infrastructure.
- Neon, for database infrastructure.
- Vercel for hosting and API delivery, and Cloudflare R2 for profile media storage.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging, for delivering push notifications and message payloads.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, in
connection with a business transfer, or with your direction. We do not currently sell
personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising based on our
current practices.
6. International Transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they
operate. When applicable, we rely on contractual commitments and other available legal
mechanisms intended to protect personal information transferred internationally.
7. Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes
described in this Policy, including to provide the service, comply with law, resolve
disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you request account deletion, we aim to
delete or de-identify applicable account data within 30 days unless we need to retain
certain information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or backup purposes.
Because chat messages are not stored on our servers, there is no central server-side
message history for us to retain or delete. Temporary copies may remain on your device
until removed by you or overwritten by the app.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of,
deletion of, or portability of your personal information, and to object to or restrict
certain processing. California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and
users in the EU and UK may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right
to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
To exercise privacy rights, contact support@types.social. We may need to verify your
identity before completing your request. We generally aim to respond within the time
required by applicable law, including within one month for requests subject to the
GDPR or UK GDPR.
9. Children
Existence is intended only for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly
permit anyone under 18 to use the service.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to
protect personal information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee
absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we
may notify you by updating the policy in the app or on the website and revising the
“Last updated” date above.
